Great one, Hugh. I am confident that the Tower in the U-District was open by the time I started school at UW in 1981.

Thanks Marsh, I was pretty sure I was off on the 1990's date, but I couldn't find anything online specifically dating the UD location of Tower and decided to let it stand. Appreciate the clarification.

I remember Tower Records well because there were branches in Cambridge and Boston when I lived in that area. Almost overwhelming to shop there, so much stock.

The band names Chubby Children and Drug Czar are hilarious.

I was interviewed at Cellophane Square in 1990, I didn’t get the job. Eager to work in a record store, I got hired at Peaches in Ballard. It was slow, corporate, with little to do. After six months I quit, taking a job at 7-11. The current C2 manager, Jennifer Jarosz, would stop in from time to time. This brought me back to a second interview where I was then hired. Thank you 1990s Peaches, for being boring as hell!

I spent 2 years dealing with Neil Hymon, (sp?) owner of Peaches trying to convince him of giving my company his video business. Top shelf grinder but quite a good guy once negotiation time came to an end. Oh the stories I could tell...

Yes, it was Neil Heiman, and he was (is) a great guy. We were neighbors in Wallingford for a while, and friendly competitors when he was running Peaches. I've seen him in more recent years and we always enjoy catching up.

If you chance to meet him again sometime soon, please mention me and watch him light up. He was the ultimate tiger in negotiations.
