A memoir of 25 years (1975-2000) spent working in the world of records & music in Seattle, with occasional side trips into writings on Led Zeppelin and other adventures from my musical life.
Lord help any act that had to follow Zep on that first 'opening act' tour. My experience described in Haze #2 was similar in show content, stage presence and the electricity those four generated in their initial introduction. as well as the inevitable fact the headliner could not leap above the bar LZ set those evenings. Great recollections Hugh. Your memory certainly was at the top of its game describing what took place oh so long ago! And so, your lifelong passion was born...
I love Led Zeppelin. I cannot believe you saw them at The Fillmore, how lucky. The closest I got was seeing The Firm with Jimmy Page....at least I saw him play the guitar with the bow.
As always, so jealous of this experience! Too young to have realistically had a chance to see them, although I did at least get to see that 1st Page/Plant tour in ‘94. I remember talking about Zep a good deal in my interview with you for Cellophane in ‘91, which made me feel pretty good about my chances of getting the job! :)
Great review, like actually being there.
Thanks for sharing the ads and program -- I just love the graphic design in that era.
Excellent review of what sounds like a spectacular and life-changing event. I was three days old when you were at that concert! 😎

Awesome! But dang, only 11 seconds - there's gotta be more.
Thanks Buckeye!
